TESDAA MEETING, AUGUST 21,2008

A meeting was held at Frannie Nodland’s home on Thursday, August 21,2008

to discuss the upcoming September All Alumni reunion. Those attending were Fred and Marcis Gasser, Carole Sweeney, Nancy Phelan, Barbara Paolizzi, Alice Smurthwaite,

Liz Tenaglio, Joan Beltz and Frannie Nodland.

In order to ease the burden on Frannie, it was decided that those present plus Gerry

Gasser, Jack Cox,Lou Piombino, Bill Keltz, and Andy Wilson would hereafter be known

as the Steering Committee who would share with Frannie the responsibility of the preparation and planning for this annual event. The class representatives would be responsible for the various memorabilia and whatever else they would be interested in doing.

As each alumni from Conestoga celebrate their 50th anniversary they are invited to become part of the TESDAA association. This year the Conestoga Class of 1958 will be included. It was also suggested that we might “reach out” to those who attended TEHS

but did not graduate for one reason or another. They must be put into our database in order to receive the newsletters.

A meeting will be held for all class representatives regarding the September’08 weekend.

(the date to be determined)

The newsletters from now on will be limited to twice a year instead of quarterly and will no longerinclude obituaries but just a listing of those recently deceased  alumni.

Joan Beltz will look into having a new banner whicb will  encompass alumni of both TE and Conestoga (TESDAA = Tredyffrin Easttown School District Alumni Association).

The old banner will  be used as memorabilia.

Invitations wll be sent to the Conestoga Class of 1959 to come and see what TESDAA is all about.

The program for this year’s event will depict both TE Joint High School and Conestoga High along with the bulldog either sitting in or pulling a Conestoga wagon.

Since Frannie has been so kind as to take all the”stuff” from the reunion to her home, carry it to the attic and store it, then pull it out each year, she asked that we each

take “something” home with us to relieve her of this task.Barbara Paolizzi will have the tablecloths for the memorabilia tables. Joan Beltz will take care of the banner. Carole Sweeney will handle the balloons and the name tags, pens and pencils, etc., and the pom-poms. Lou Piombino is presently working on getting some storage space for us at the

high school.

Friday night tailgate will be followed by the football game. The TE Alma Mater will be sung at half-time. The day of the event, we will possibly have the String Quartet again. A “surprise” is planned for entertainment and Bill Keltz is putting together a 30-minute  side show. Marketing Cuisine (Steve Donato) will again do the catering. Instead of a live auction we will be trying a Silent Auction which Nancy Phelan will be organizing  A

Basket of cheer will be chanced off but will not a part of the auction.

Marcia Gasser will send Frannie information about the Grateful Alive Band which plays music known to us “old timers”

Those who will be celebrating their 70th anniversary as alumni will receive corsages

Barbara Paolizzi will get some flowers at Produce Junction and tie them with garnet

and gray ribbons.

Gerry Gasser has been given the job of finding out about tour guides (students) to conduct tours of the school.

Pictures may be taken with either the bulldog or a pioneer

Lucy Quici Scutti has been maintaining the financial books, making deposits, etc.

We have about $18,000 in savings and about 3,000 or 4,000 in checking account.

Frannie has been sending thank you notes to each contributor. By increasing their

donations, people sometimes move from bulldog to century, or whatever. This

becomes difficult to “keep on top of” so we will attempt to find an easier way to handle this.

Frannie has also suggested that we keep our Mission Statement in the forefront to make everyone understand that it was not our intention to be involved in financial giving such as scholarships, etc. but  “to preserve the history of our Alma Maters and to foster and maintain relationships among people who attended there”.
